Three normal fifth graders are chosen to be the new Keyholders, the ones who must keep the bad magic out of the real world. They are given three “links,” or magical helpers—a young dragon who is allergic to turkberries, a sarcastic unicorn, and a rat with a secret. The three kids and their helpers are the only ones standing in the way of the evil Queen of the Boggarts who is determined to take over the real world.

Reviews:

“This is an engaging page turner with lots of excitement and some predictable elements that are offset by humor and solid characters. This is an exceptional choice for reluctant or remedial readers. The story has some meat to it, there are some black-and-white sketches scattered throughout, and the text moves forward with lots of dialogue (i.e., short sentences).”
The Reading Tub

“The first Keyholders’ urban fantasy is a fun often amusing thriller.”
Genre Go Round Reviews

Kirkus Reviews
“…kids will be drawn to the likable, believable protagonists and the promise of more enticing magic and action to follow.”
